Japan ist eines der wenigen Länder mit eigener Papiernorm: Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). Sie umfasst JIS A, JIS B und traditionelle Formate.

JIS A vs ISO A

Die JIS-A-Serie entspricht ISO A mit leicht anderen Toleranzen. JIS A4 = 210 × 297 mm.

JIS B: größer als ISO B

Die JIS-B-Serie ist nicht ISO B. JIS B1 hat 1,5× die Fläche von JIS A1.

  • JIS B4 — 257 × 364 mm
  • JIS B5 — 182 × 257 mm
  • JIS B6 — 128 × 182 mm

JIS B5 ist üblich für japanische Bücher und Manga.

Traditionelle Formate

  • Kiku — "Chrysantheme" — Kiku 4 = 227 × 306 mm
  • Shiroku-ban — "vier-sechs Format" — Shiroku 4 = 264 × 379 mm
